Library

Yesterday I went and got a library card at the local Auburn Library. The cool thing is that now that I am a 'metropolitan' area there are way more books/movies/what have you that are possible for me to check out. One book I got is a biography on Rosalind Franklin, I saw it at B&N before and wanted it but couldn't rationalize buying it. I need to go back to B&N to remind myself as to what books I was interested in reading. Then go to the library and get them (or request them). All the libraries in King County (the Seattle metro area) are connected so even if my library doesn't have it I can reserve it and will be able to pick it up in Auburn when it comes in. I was also happy to see they had a lot of books on CD (I have a cd player in my car) so now have the option of listening to books while commuting to and from work. I am not sure how much I will do that but I'm happy to know it is an option.

One simple but cool thing about my library card is that I got a choice of 6+ cards to chose from. Each had a different color/picture on them. I never knew of libraries to do that (at least that I remember). I know at home they have just one type and no pretty picture. The one I chose isn't a particular pretty color but I liked the picture the best than the others.

Less than a week till I start work!

No more job hunting?

I was offered and accepted a position in Seattle as a Lab Tech. This isn't the type of research position I was originally looking for but it will give me good experience and will be plenty enough to pay the bills. I don't start till the 6th of next month so have a few days to kill some time. Will probably start having dreams about showing up to work late or messing up their lab by accident. There is a 30 probationary period when I start so if it is something I don't like it won't be a problem getting out. Or on the other side they can get rid of me... :(. I like the first idea better. There is the one job I applied for in person that I would take over this one in a heartbeat. So job hunting is mostly done. I will still keep my eyes open until I decide I like the work at this one. If it turns out to be something I hate I will continue my job hunting.

Job hunting (to the max... sure...)

Well I am once again jobless (as of a while ago...) but I have a job interview tomorrow. It is in Seattle and I figured if I'm going to go all the way to Seattle I might as well make good use of my trip. So I'm planning on stopping by another place, that has new positions open, to apply in person. I've applied online for a few jobs before but maybe this will make them take me more seriously. It gives me an opportunity to give cover letters (also means I need to write cover letters Yuck) whereas before I did not send any because of their online application format. So maybe that will also be helpful.

So that is my updated.
