Electricity

You may have heard about the big wind storm in my area. We lost power at our apartment early Friday morning and didn't get it back till the following Thurs. Morning. It was not fun. The first few days were ok. Stayed at my boyfriends house - he lives with his aunt and they had a warm fire place. His cousin and husband and Donoven and I slept in the living room where the fire place was. Was livable for a while. Fortunately another cousin of Donovens still had power and let us come over and take showers and charge our phones. I need to get a car charger for my new phone still. Donoven got power back at his place before me so that was nice even though I didn't have power at least I could stay where there was some and it was warm. I don't like living in an area where the power company services so many people there were more than a million out of power. The worst thing was the people that died due to carbon monoxide poisoning - mostly immigrants that didn't speak or read English well so they didn't know the dangers of using generators or charcoal grills inside. But now people have power back except for a few that evidently need repairs made to their houses not the powerlines coming in.

that is scarry. was it declared national disaster area so people could submit claimes to their insurance comapnys (broken water pipes, etc..)? that happend awhile ago down here, we had really bad winds, and they declaried it disaster area so insurance companys had to fix fenses and garage doors and roofs.

Our rain storm previous to the wind storm was declared a national disastor but don't know if the wind storm will be. But people with insurance can still get help with damages. I heard that I could possibly have taken advantage of my renters insurance in getting help to pay for a hotel but never tried to... not for sure if it would have worked should read my plan discription.
